Christmas Party:

The staff and residents would firstly like to say thank you to everyone that attended our Christmas celebrations on the 12th of December. A great time was had by all as there was plenty of entertainment throughout the day. There were music and karaoke performances by Residents and visitors.

The Wyeth’s Christmas Choir came to the nursing home to entertain the residents with some powerful singing.   Sean Cross came to play the accordion for the residents, Eoin Fagan, Suncroft Church Choir, Ciaran & Paul and children from Newbridge Gaelscoil all came to sing and play to the residents over the winter period – it may have been a cold winter outside – but the sun was shining inside Suncroft Lodge Nursing Home


Adopt a Friend Initiative:

At a meeting with the Director of Nursing, Glenda Panes, Suncroft’s Parish Priest Fr. Larkin and Suncroft Parishioner’s the Suncroft Friendship Initiative originated.  This is an initiative which benefits all residents who do not have family or friends in the area, or who may have no family at all.  It was a concern of ours that these residents do not have regular visitors, so members of the Suncroft Community have decided to give up their time and regularly visit the residents.  It has proved to be a huge success and very beneficial for the residents, who now have regular contacts with the community and most important of all- new friends.

Activities:

In our activities this term Margriet and Nico have made Decorations and Cards for Christmas as well as Valentine’s Day.  Some residents have been to the Cinema.  Over the last 3 months Suncroft Lodge residents have been involved in a Bowling Tournament in conjunction with Kildare Sports Partnership. We can now proudly announce that the winner of the Tournament was our very own P.G. who received a certificate for The Highest Score.  Some of our outdoor trips this term included a tours to St. Brigid’s Well and  Moore’s Well.
