Alzheimer’s / Dementia Care' Beech Unit

Alzheimer's Disease is the most common cause of dementia and accounts for more than 50% of all cases. Dementia is a general term used to describe a group of symptoms. These include deterioration in memory, and judgment, intellect, deterioration in social skills and language.

Gormanston Wood Nursing Home has the Beech Unit, a 19 bed secure specialised dementia facility with single and double bedrooms.

Dementia facilities are specialised living areas for residents with memory impairments that have progressed to the point where they can no longer communicate normally and/or take care of themselves.

The Beech unit provides our residents with constant supervision, formal nursing care plans, help with activities of daily living (ADLs) and personalized care designed to offer residents as much mental and memory stimulation as possible.

The Beech unit has a separate, secure courtyard with access walkways through which residents can wander safely and enjoy the internal courtyard.
