Gormanston Wood Nursing Home has deservedly earned a reputation as being a leading care facility in North County Dublin. It is conveniently located a three minute drive from Balbriggan, twenty minutes from Swords and fifteen minutes from Drogheda on the main Balbriggan to Drogheda road. This purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility is luxuriously furnished to provide a comfortable home for it residents. The building is designed to ensure all residents have a view of the courtyard or landscaped gardens where residents and guests can stroll in safety and privacy. Both floors have level access throughout and all bedrooms enjoy a garden or courtyard aspect. Gormanston Wood has been awarded the EIQA Quality of Care Standard for Nursing Homes, an independent quality accreditation based on stringent quality and hygiene standards.

June 2011 - Shortlisted for National Award
We are delighted to announce that Gormanston Wood Nursing Home has been shortlisted for the EIQA Q Mark Irish Nursing Home of the Year Award 2011. There are only five homes nominated in the country so fingers crossed that we can win this pretigious award.
The award is based on stringent care and hygeine criteria through an external audit process. The Q Marks Awards will be handed out at a Gala dinner in Dublin in October 2011.

Catering and Nutritional Requirements
Dining in Gormanston Wood is a social experience to look forward to and be enjoyed by all. Our catering service is provided in conjunction with Campbell Bewley catering. Their teams experienced chefs prepare menus which comprise fresh, seasonal ingredients so that every meal is not only nutritious but also looks great and tastes delicious. It is important that our residents eat what they like, whether a lovely wholesome meal or a varied three course dinner. There is a choice available everyday and the dishes we prepare reflect and include the likes and requests of our residents.Our homes provide residents with a choice of homemade dishes and freshly baked goods each day which residents can choose to take in the dining room or, if they prefer, in the comfort of their own room.
Nutmeg Nutritional Program;
The Nutmeg Nutritional Progam is currently being rolled out in Gormanston Wood. This is a nutritional analysis programme which is designed to support the promotion and delivery of healthy eating for older people, in particular those with Dementia and eating difficulties. The program will be rolled out to Guardian Healthcare's other homes in early 2010.

Director of Nursing:
Bridget Brassey R.G.N. is the Director of Nursing at Gormanston Wood Nursing Home. Bridget has been a nurse for over 25 years and has specialised in care of the elderly for the last 15 years. Bridget has managed a number of well known nursing homes in the last 15 years and would be well recognised in her field. Together with her team of more than 70 staff who are dedicated to the Guardian Healthcare’s vision of ‘meeting the needs of our residents by providing them with the highest level of person centered care and service’ Bridget ensures her residents and their families receive the highest levels of care and support at Gormanston Wood.
Bridget is assisted by Annette Larsen R.G.N., Assistant Director of Nursing. Patricia Silke is our Administrator and Bernie Sutton is the Head Housekeeper.
